Special educator:   Heather L. Gray

Ashaway's Special Education programming is individualized to meet the

needs of every student.   Some students are successful working in the

class with a teacher assistant, or myself teaching them strategies they

can eventually apply with increased independence.

Others need a more intensive, pull-out approach to target and improve

their weaknesses; while also teaching them to capitalize on their

strengths.

Please continue to practice your child's addition and subtraction facts- even those who are in fourth grade!   As students learn multiplication, addition and subtraction fact fluency often suffers.

There are many ways to practice:

- orally- in the car, at the dinner table, with a friend

     over the phone

- writing the facts in chalk, marker, crayon,

     on dry-erase, etc.

- flashcards

- Computer games (see student resource page)
